Give 100 Hours

100 to the Second Power

We will serve.

In the centennial year, the college is committed to completing a total of 10,000 service hours with a service project called “100 to the Second Power.” The project is a reflection of the mission of the college. The purpose of 100 to the Second Power is to share with the community during the centennial year all that the college has to offer, including its skills, talents and most especially its time. Many students, faculty, staff and alumni already give their time to a multitude of service projects every day in a variety of ways.

All faculty, staff, students, clubs, the freshman classes, service learning courses, alums are invited to contribute time to the goal of 10,000 community service hours to celebrate our centennial.

How?
There is a variety of ways for you to help DYC reach this goal.

You can record your community service hours online or provide Campus Ministry with a statement of service.  Your hours will be logged into a volunteer databank.

Planting a Field of Daisies

So, why the daisies? Saint Marguerite D'Youville had a flower's name: marguerite or in English, "daisy." This flower reminds us of her spirit of community service and of a life of action that made her spirit visible. In 2008 our marguerites, our daisies, will bloom at D'Youville as our college community honors Saint Marguerite d'Youville by rolling up its sleeves and setting out to improve our West Side Neighborhood.

The progress meter on this page will keep track of our 10,000-hour goal.
